I watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games and a few of the events yes I'm a fan . I did something most Americans had no Idea that they could do I watched some of the opening festivities on live feed . Latter in the evening I got a big laugh out of enjoying the parts conveniently edited out for commercial space, and talking heads giving us the spin . I have not had the time to yet But I do plan to poke around on you tube for clips to add to this blog of what was cut out of the NBC broadcast . The one bit of trickery Russians took part in was not broadcasting the snow flake that did not change to a ring on there national TV . The history of Russia is proud and as interesting as our own . The colorful display was a great site . Are you as proud as me that we skipped over 100 years of it for the Kraft co. ? That was the spread the wealth part that our own President catches hell for from time to time . Nice to know we miss the show so the media can feel as if they helped him out with a 10-15mn. change in the program . The show was grand and flamboyant so for it to be said that Russians are soul fully Strait I have to question that . I have a hard time believing none of those dancers has not a drop of sugar in his tank . We missed the show out side of the stadium as well where Gay Rights Activists got into some trouble with the police and spent the night in jail . This is now an Issue the Red State will have no choice but to deal with as the whole world now watches . Besides the games are not about politics,but a break from it . All things considered I think the opening was a success and a great show . President Putin can be proud of the hard work by all.
I did notice that we had left the most important thing that America could send at home . I think we need to have a new set of ball's made and send them to Sochi Yesterday ! What Kind of a waste of existence do we have setting in office that he can not stand toe to toe with Mr. Putin ? This is not how Our leaders behave with those from Russia . I posted a few of our past leaders for the sake of reminder, but could go all the way back to Kennedy with them if needed . We ended the cold war Face to face not hiding behind the first lady's skirt . I now have no questions as to why for the first time in my life a Russian President is Ranked as more powerful then an American president . Do you expect President Putin to show you any respect after you stood him up on this his biggest personal goodwill projects ? This guy may not be the best man to have ever lead a nation but our commander and chief is no better . We could have sent any number of our kiss ass crony's and it would have been better then sending none in the eyes of the world . Where was butt her face Clinton ? Was she off ordering the over running of another one of our embassy's is that why she could not attend ? She could have sent Bill he has spoke with the Russians and we all know he loves the girls too . I said the games are not about politics and they are not . They are all about Diplomacy and putting our differences aside if only for a while . It would be nice if we had sent some diplomats, not a group of scapegoats as a bad political statement .
Truth be told with Obama in office we continue to loose the game . The Olympics are about Peace and unity two words we as Americans are beginning to forget the meaning of . The original games would see Nations at war lay down there arms and head to the games . In some cases those who where fighting each other marched to the games side by side . That's what the Message is in the Olympics not chest thumping, and posturing over politics and policies . One other President used the Olympics to send his message and it was not received as he wished . The difference between that President and ours is he held the games . They both speak of be the defender of morality, and being superior to all . Who would question any of there decisions as masters of the new world ordained by destiny ? That other guy was Hitler and Russia spanked him too you know . It might be a good thing our leaders stayed home, if I was on the Olympic comity I would have had them sent home till a seize fire was ordered in Afghanistan any way . If we are going to use the games to show how superior we believe ourselves to be to other nations then we should first remember what the Olympics are all about.
